Final Fantasy XIV is a massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) developed and published by Square Enix. In the game, players create their own avatars and interact with others in a virtual world to complete quests.
The ffxiv housing availability 2024 is the question that has been on everyone’s minds. It seems like housing in FFXIV was limited, but it wasn’t.
The simple answer to this issue is that homes are only available in a few in-game communities. There are a lot of home plots, but there are an unlimited number of people who want to purchase one, thus demand much outnumbers supply.
One of the most appealing aspects of XIV is the player housing.
It has a lot of depth – players may make, acquire, or purchase their own furniture from a wide variety of choices. If you take a stroll around any of XIV’s player estates, you’ll see a plethora of structures, each suited to distinct personal preferences.
Free Companies may also buy estates and convert them into lively social centers for their members.
There are three distinct sizes of home plots available:
Inside the cottage, there are two levels, tiny rooms, a garden plot, and 200 pieces of furniture. Three stories, almost double the size of the cottage, with 300 pieces of furniture and two garden patches. Mansion – three storeys, much bigger than a House, with a furniture maximum of 400 pieces and three garden patches.
The price varies depending on the size of the plot, as you would expect.
Small plots sell for 2-5 million gil, medium plots for 15-37 million gil, and mansions for 35-87 million gil.
I’ll go through those price ranges in more depth later, but first, let’s look at why you can’t simply purchase a home as soon as you get the cash.
Why can’t each player have their own home?
It all boils down to the amount of server space available.
Housing wards are always full and visible in the world.
You may go over to any of the four housing zones and roam around the communities at any moment.
If they just added additional wards whenever housing became too crowded, the servers would be overworked, and Square Enix would have to spend more money on storage, which they don’t appear to want to do.
That is the realistic solution.

Another is their architectural concept, which is that they want housing wards to be communities.
They want homes to be a source of pride, something that is tough to get and serves as an elite social element of the game.
They’re promoting that attitude by keeping the wards non-instanced, even if it precludes a significant portion of the player population.
Houses may be owned by both players and Free Companies.
At the same time, you may “own” an FC home and your own estate.
There are an incredible number of very rich gamers simply itching to put their hard-earned gil into a home of their own.
I actually had a conversation with someone who claimed to have saved enough gil to purchase a whole ward in the time it took them to get fortunate with one.
Purchasing Properties in Final Fantasy XIV
So, how does anybody else get a shot if homes are in such great demand?
Your home is not yours indefinitely after you purchase it.
In will be destroyed if no one enters it within 45 days, and the site will be offered for purchase. This applies even if you’re still playing the game but haven’t visited your estate in a while.
Essentially, it relies on people leaving their properties, after which it will be picked up by someone else.
Players may also relocate their estates to another location, leaving the old plot vacant and for sale.
It is considerably easier to relocate an estate than it is to purchase a new one. When a consequence, as individuals trade up, numerous smaller plots will become available.
Even vacant plots, however, do not become accessible immediately.

An invisible timer is imposed to the plot to discourage entrepreneurial homeowners from bypassing the game’s mechanisms and “selling” property at their own prices to other players. The duration of this timer varies, but it usually lasts between 6 and 8 hours.
It may last as little as 30 minutes or as long as a whole day.
The only method to see whether the countdown has run out is to click on the buy sign for the property.
The notice “This piece of land is not yet available for purchase” will appear if the timer is still running.
This implies you’ll have to check on the property many times a day if you want to have a chance of getting it.
However, keep in mind that there may be hundreds of other people doing the same thing – discovering a storyline is just half the fight.
In addition, the price of the home will vary within its range depending on the server’s economy.
Because demand is almost always strong, prices will usually be on the upper end. The longer a property plot stays on the market, the lower the price becomes, although this is seldom the case.
Housing Requirements
If you want to purchase a personal home, the first step is to save up a significant amount of gil to pay the plot’s possible cost.
Purchasing the land is by far the most difficult phase. What the game doesn’t tell you is that you’ll need a Housing Permit in addition to purchasing it.
Depending on the size of the land, they may cost anything from 450,000 to 3,000,000 gil.
You will lose the permit if you do not buy and utilize it within 45 days after obtaining the property.
You must have at least one level 50 job and the rank of Second Lieutenant in your Grand Company to be eligible.
If you want to acquire real estate for your Free Company, it must be at least Rank 6 and you must have the appropriate rights inside your FC to do so.
So, set aside enough money to cover the possible cost of the home, as well as a budget for the dwelling permit.
You’ll need to start canvassing the wards for a suitable plot after you’ve acquired the funds.
There are presently four residential districts available:
The Mist in Limsa Lominsa, Gridania’s Lavender Beds, Ul’dah’s The Goblet, and Hingashi’s Shirogane.
In Ishgard, the capital city of the Heavensward expansion, Endwalker introduces a fifth district.
It’s owned if a plan includes a player name or the phrase “Free Company.”
The plot will show the price if it is available for purchase. When you’ve discovered a storyline that you like, the hard job starts.

Do I Have Any Other Options If I Can’t Get A House?
Yes!
They’re also a lot less work than purchasing a land on your own.
Joining a Free Company that already has one is the simplest method to obtain your own customized dwelling place in XIV.
Even the colossal “whale” social FCs will feature spacious residential quarters. And, after you’ve met the requirements for purchasing a home, you may acquire Private Quarters inside the FC house, regardless of plot size.
This will set you back $300,000, but it will give you access to a private room.
Whether you have a room or not, you’ll have access to all else the FC estate has to offer. However, if all you want is a place to call your own, this is by far the simplest method to do it.
Just keep in mind that if you leave the FC or are expelled for any reason, the room will be destroyed.
And you won’t get your $300,000 back under any circumstances.
The $300,000 is paid straight into the home and should not be distributed to any members or leaders.
If someone asks you to pay for a room, leave immediately and join a better group.
Your Grand Company can also help you buy your own apartment.
These are considerably easier to get by and cost 500,000 gil.
That may seem like a lot for an apartment, but when you consider all of the other expenses and hassles that come with owning a home, it’s really a bargain.
Housing in Final Fantasy XIV is a limited resource, and not everyone can have one. The housing crisis will be solved by 2024. Reference: ffxiv housing crisis 2024.
